MyID Password Idiocy

Having received 2 emails in the past 2 days telling me I needed to change my MyID password, I decided to change it tonight. In case you are an over-achiever and already changed your password, here is the email:
Dear ———-,
The password for your MyID “————” will expire in 3 days.
To ensure that you can [...]

Open Mic with Mike: Student Unfriendly

So, this semester’s edition of Open Mic with Mike is coming up next week (courtesy of the Facebook event here).
Open Mic with Mike is going to be next Friday at 3:30pm. That’s right, on a Friday afternoon.
If you wanted to actually get students to attend and have them actually “spend an hour or two [...]

Election Compromised

As students go on to OASIS to vote this year, they are basically seeing what they have in past years. But this year, someone added in a link to the SGA webpage:

See it? Right there beneath the ‘amendment or issue’ box, there is a link to ugasga.org with the text “To view the [...]

SGA Press Secretary – Get It Right

In case you haven’t seen it, SGA Press Secretary Jeremiah Johnson (frequent commenter) started a Facebook group called “Keep SGA!” with the hopes of convincing you to vote to keep SGA on campus.
More like conniving students into believing lies:
Without SGA this year…
- There’d be no online Key
Dead wrong!
The Black Tie Party saved the Key. [...]

Future SGA Prez in ABH

SGA Presidential candidate Katy Bowers was quoted (warning, free registration required) in the Athens Banner-Herald yesterday. The article is about UGA President Michael Adams’ State of the University address.
UGA student government leader Kathryn Bowers said that while UGA is doing a fine job providing a great education to Georgia’s top students, it has fallen [...]

Problems with new passwords

I have heard second-hand information that people are having trouble when changing their MyID passwords, as required by the new regulations.
Can anyone confirm these problems?
The rumor I have heard is that someone goes in and changes their password, and suddenly their new and old passwords don’t work.
Also, the Red and Black reported on the new [...]

New Site on Plus/Minus Grades

Here.
Now that grades have come out, everyone seems to be complaining about the new plus/minus grading system. For those that haven’t previously heard, the new system means:
A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7
D = 1.0
F = 0.0
For more information [...]

R&B Editor on Plus/Minus Grading

The new Editor in Chief of the Red and Black, Lauren Morgan, had an excellent editorial in yesterday’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The editorial is about her personal experience with the new plus/minus grading system. She also addresses who the system penalizes, and why it was put into place:
When the administration chose to adopt the [...]

We Want Our $$$ Back

The University recently admitted to students that construction on Tate 2 would be delayed, but students had to read closely to find the news. An email was sent out over the Parking Services listserv about parking at N11 (the Tate Center Lot). Here are the important pieces:
Recently, we sent out an email informing [...]

Must Change Your MyID Passwords

The University of Georgia is now mandating that we change our UGA MyID passwords every 6 months and that we must use strong passwords (e.g. 8 characters long, must have a special character, ect). For more information, check your email inboxes.
Sidenote: but did our wonderful student government have any say in this decision?

The email [...]
