SGA Prez Thinks His Emails Are “Privileged”

So we’ve already pointed out the SGA President Connor McCarthy is using a special listserv of Honors students to help out his buddies.
Instead of wising up and not sending out these emails to his buddies anymore, President McCarthy decided to stick a stock “privileged” notice at the bottom of his emails.  In two emails sent [...]

When Will We Be Notified of Away Game Tickets?

Students that signed up for home game UGA football 2007 tickets received an email Saturday, September 25. The email also included a bit about away game tickets:
*Notification of away game ticket information will be emailed to students by Tuesday, August 28th. Away game tickets will not be picked up with the home tickets.
Today [...]

The Key in the R&B

Two weeks ago, Josh Weiss lashed out at the SGA for failing to update The Key, the grade record previously kept up-to-date by the University. Here’s the backstory:
However, for all intensive purposes, The Key is dead.
After Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness Bob Boehmer crippled the online database of grade distributions in spring 2006 by [...]

Where to find The Key

Last year the University of Georgia administration took down The Key, a grade reporting website. The Student Government Association was charged with putting The Key online, and they have failed.
As such, the editor of the Ruddle Report, Paul Ruddle, has made available an Excel file with the 1999 through 2006 Key data.
If you would [...]

Student Reps Absent

Students were not represented at the recent meeting of the University Curriculum Committee (April 2, 2007). SGA Vice President Ali Gibbons and GSA President Lindsey Scott were both absent and did not have substitutes (which are allowed).
To compare, of the 17 other members on the Committee (all professors), only one was absent without a [...]

Four-year, fixed tuition plan on hold

For all the freshmen at UGA (and any state institution) who thought that their tuition was going to be fixed for their time here, think again. The Athens-Banner Herald is reporting that the Board of Regents has put this plan on hold.
They are reporting that it won’t cost the University System too much more, [...]

Drop in GPA

A little birdie has informed me that average GPA across campus dropped from last spring to last fall.
This drop seems to be tied to the implementation of the Plus/Minus grading system.
I think this new system will lead to fewer UGA students getting into grad schools.  Any thoughts?

Constitution Vote Overturned

I am pleased to report that someone in SGA decided to enforce their own Constitution. This message was just emailed out to several parties, regarding the ratification of the new SGA Constitution:
After further review and a hearing on the complaint filed by Paul Ruddle, the Elections Committee of the Student Government Association in a [...]

Vote on SGA Constitution Challenged

The Red and Black finally picked up on this story (here).
The question here is that the SGA Constitution requires 10% of the students to vote in a “special election” for the SGA Constitution, before the Constitution can be approved.
So, how many students voted in the election? Well, it depends what the definition of “special [...]

MyID Password Idiocy

Having received 2 emails in the past 2 days telling me I needed to change my MyID password, I decided to change it tonight. In case you are an over-achiever and already changed your password, here is the email:
Dear ———-,
The password for your MyID “————” will expire in 3 days.
To ensure that you can [...]
