SGA Puts Up Crap Version of Key

SGA recently put online a horrible version of The Key:

The 2006-2007 Key is now online!

To access grade distribution information click on the resources for students icon. This year, courses have been categorized alphabetically by the first letter of the course.

SGA’s venerable webmaster (Wonder if this took him the 6 hours he claimed?) put online 8 pdf’s that list the grade data by the 4-letter course identifier. Yes, you have to download 8 different pdf’s to see two semesters worth of grade data.

So this makes 3 places where you have to go to find The Key:

  • Fall 1999 through Fall 2005 can be found at the Black Tie Party website.
  • “2005 through 2006″ [SGA doesn't indicate which term] is available here.
  • Now the “2006 through 2007″ data [again no indication of which term from SGA] is online here.

Thanks, SGA, for making The Key so easy to find!

I’ve heard a rumor that another group of students is attempting to put up a better version of The Key, that might actually take into account students’ needs, usability, AND have all the data (Fall 1999 through Spring 2007) in one place. The rumor indicates that this new version of The Key will be up by drop/add, in time to actually be useful.

UGA students are ready to see all of The Key in one place. This is a project SGA should have completed a long time ago, but they never stepped up to bat for us students.

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more about The Key!

The best/ worst thing about this is that SGA gets to claim they’re up to date on the key and are still relevant to students.

Oh, and the percentage numbers don’t add up to 100. So either someone at SGA can’t do math or there needs to be a note as to where all those students went if they didn’t withdraw, take the class, or “other”.

Even more amusing, what happened to the website since the new senators moved in? There have been practically no news updates and no sign of any “accomplishments” during the spring semester. Any SGA person want to give us an update on what’s been happening?

Thanks for all the comments, everyone. It is nice to see people still show up on the site after a long publishing break.

Chris, if you want an update on SGA, check back here. You get no news from SGA about what they are doing.

Steve, can you give me any specifics on what subjects and classes don’t add up to 100 percent? I’d like to fix this issue if I can. Thanks!

    Former webmaster,

The first two and sixth of the A’s are off by at least 3%. Some of this may be due to roundoff error, but I’ve found totals of as low as 88 in the database (ENGR 2120). No way you lost 12 points in roundoff…

ENGR has some numbers that are way off. There were a few other subjects when I looked earlier, but I don’t have the time to comb all of the key looking for mistakes right now (though I encourage anyone with that much free time to do so).

To disclaim what I posted earlier, many entries do, in fact, add to 100%, but many do not. I’ll just hope Paul’s version is right and more user-friendly.

STAT 2000 Iaci adds to 92.9%, while STAT 2000 Morse adds to 96.1

If the percentages were taken to the nearest tenth, max combined error for the 13 grade columns would be .65%. If truncated at the tenth (heaven help us if they actually did this- reminds me of Office Space) the max combined error would be 1.17%.

    OK, I’m done.

It seems there is a problem with SGA’s version of The Key.

In many subjects, the column for the letter grade F contains 0% or 0.1%. This number is most often incorrect.

SGA has been notified that there is a problem with their version of The Key, but have yet to take it down or fix the problem.

They don’t seem to care. Who would’ve imagined?

One more question- when this new version is put up, will SGA pony up $$ to advertise it to the students since regardless of who put it up it’s still a great service to the student body? Or will there just have to be a guerilla flyer/word-of-mouth campaign instead?

Oh the f#$%ing humanity!!! SGA put up a crappy version of the key! What a great story webmaster king. I’m glad you stopped putting Rogaine in your hair long enough to inform everyone of this breaking news! Maybe if you got your boyfriend John Weiss to write your stories, you wouldn’t have this problem. I think you need a good ass kicking from the student body. Can’t wait to read what other shit you plan on posting…

    Jerry,

First, if you’re gonna accuse me of shit, at least get my name right. Second of all, although I frequent this site Chris and I haven’t spoken since either January or early February and that was because SGA’s advisor called us in for a meeting with him where he in nicer words accused us of conspiracy.

Further, no one asked me to write a column about The Key for the paper. The reason the column was written was opinions editor Bill Richards asked me to write something for him to fill a hole on his page. After about an hour of trying out different story ideas ranging from zero population growth to some national news commentary, I decided the only thing that really bothered me enough to write about was how The Key hadn’t been updated.

Jerry, gotta say, you kind of made yourself look like an ass there. Next time, tone down your rhetoric, get your facts straight, and try to sound less pissed off and maybe you won’t come off like a raving lunatic.

    Love,
    Josh D. Weiss

Hey Jerry, do former SGA Attorney Generals get a retirement pension or anything? I feel like they work really hard and don’t get enough credit. Don’t you agree?

  12. Jerry | August 12, 2007 at 8:05 pm | Permalink

Josh, John, Joe, I don’t give a shit what your name is. I bet your family originally came from Austria-Hungary though - how far off am I? Anyways, I find it interesting you haven’t been in communication with your boyfriend since early February. That must be putting a damper on your love life. So that you don’t miss understand what I am trying to say, make sure to listen up. You are a whiny little rodent whose only purpose in life is to conspire against those who don’t like you. So the next time you want to call me an “ass” and accuse me of shit, why not jump in front of a bus first - you would be doing us all a favor. As for Wayne, well judging by your IP Address that we obtained, I think we all know who you are – a spineless numb nut that needs to rethink his sideburns. Why don’t you turn a stool upside down and invite three of your friends over for a tea party. Oh, and Wayne, it’s kind of hard serving as SGA’s Attorney General when I’ve never even been a part of SGA. Not that there’s anything wrong with SGA, but it is difficult for those that run independently to get as many votes as those that run with a party. Thanks for the accusation though, ass.

I want to assure all the readers, Jerry has not obtained any IP addresses of visitors to Hatin’ SGA. Jerry has no access to any IP addresses of any of this site’s visitors.
And so you don’t make an ass out of yourself anymore, Jerry, only a server administrator has access to IP addresses that have viewed his or her webpage. And you can use an IP address to see roughly where a user lives, but in the United States it takes a nice court order to an ISP to bind an IP address to a specific geographic address. Ultimately, Jerry has no clue who Wayne is.

    Jerry,

Thank you for your interest in my family’s geneology. The Austrian-Hungarians are a very proud people. Sure they may have lost a war or two, but they sure as hell don’t let that get them down.

As far as my boyfriend Chris goes, things just haven’t been the same since our internet video came out (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xFrv_jUHIpE). Ever since then I haven’t been able to get his dick out of my mouth for longer than a few minutes before someone recognizes our love and i have to spit out the sweet jizm to say hello.

As far as my date with a bus though, it sounds like a fantastic plan. Just before you wrote that I was thinking to myself, “wow, I really hate my life, that anonymous guy named Jerry who trolls the Hatin’ Sga site is right! I should just go ahead and end it all.”

Anyways, I guess I’ll have to watch from hell as you walk past the pearly gates after your long and full life. Enjoy it, because I sure as hell have wasted mine!

    Cocksucker 4 Life,
    Josh D. Weiss

Jerry has posted in the last couple of minutes. Well, he/she has actually posted several times in the past few minutes, under several different names. Even though I am not a computer science major, I can tell when people with different names post from the same IP address.

Because of this and your blatant personal attacks, these comments will not be posted. Feel free to comment again, this time without personal attacks.
