A little birdie has informed me that average GPA across campus dropped from last spring to last fall.
This drop seems to be tied to the implementation of the Plus/Minus grading system.
I think this new system will lead to fewer UGA students getting into grad schools. Any thoughts?

That could be a problem with grad school admissions. I have a feeling that most will be judged on their GRE score in connection with viewing their complete transcript.
If the transcript is viewed, then having an A- should not affect the decision process.
Totally agree with you
Why hasn’t the admin/SGA made this public yet?
I’m inclined not to put much weight in a wholesale statement like the “average GPA across campus dropped from last spring to last fall.” It really does not matter much. Some questions that have to be asked are,
Is it inline with long-term trends (past five years plus)?
Is the decline similar across departments or do some departments deviate in the change?
Also, is the decrease more than the expected decrease due to the changed nature of the grading system?
I’ve compiled some statistics myself and would be happy to discuss the issue with anyone. However, just reporting that the GPA dropped doesn’t tell anyone anything about the new grading system. You really are doing an injustice to your readers by oversimplifing the issue.
